چکیده

ARTICLE INFO Depletion of fossil fuels, their rising prices and environmental pollution scenario underlines the compulsion for search of alternate and renewable sources of energy. Biogas energy is an important source of energy which can be obtained by using different input substrates. This paper summarizes experimentation work carried out related to different types of materials used, their pretreatment methods and co-digestion of different substrates. The scope for using flower waste as input substrate in bio reactors has also been discussed. Flower waste disposal in water or landfill causes environmental pollution and thus environment friendly solution for flower waste disposal is the need of time. Literature available related to anaerobic digestion of flower waste has also been

Anaerobic digestion of source-segregated domestic food waste: performance assessment by mass and energy balance.

An anaerobic digester receiving food waste collected mainly from domestic kitchens was monitored over a period of 426 days. During this time information was gathered on the waste input material, the biogas production, and the digestate characteristics. A mass balance accounted for over 90% of the material entering the plant leaving as gaseous or digestate products. A comprehensive energy balanc...

Production of Bio-gas from Flowers and Vegetable Wastes Using Anaerobic Digestion

A laboratory study was carried out on anaerobic digestion of vegetable wastes (brinjal, cabbage, carrot, ladies finger) & flowers (jasmine, sunset flower, Roselle, African wattle, Nile tulip flower, silk tree mimosa.) in a 1L capacity of anaerobic digestor using cow dung as an inoculums. The digester was operated in the ratio of 1:1 of substrate to inoculums at RT. The substrate concentrations ...

Biogas Technology, Applications, Perspectives and Implications

The major purpose of this study was to examine the advantages and implications of biogastechnology in the agriculture sector. Biogas is one of many biomass energy sources, which includeanything that was once alive and that can generate energy (except for fossil fuels, which are notrenewable). To talk of biogas is to talk of agriculture, since biogas generation starts withagricultural waste prod...
